According to the press service of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, it should be noted that TEPCO Renewable Power already owns a 31.4 percent share in Dariali HPP. This activity is the second investment made by TEPCO RP outside of Japan, which openly indicates the interest of the Japanese company in Georgia and the region, in general.
The Minister's meeting with the representatives of TEPCO RP was held online and Mikheil Khidureli, Director of LEPL Agency "Enterprise Georgia" also participated in it.
At the online meeting, Natia Turnava informed the representatives of the Japanese company about the current situation and economic trends in Georgia. According to her, a record high economic growth was observed in Georgia in 2021, which will allow the country to end the current year with a double-digit growth. The Minister also cited the forecast of the International Monetary Fund and other financial organizations, according to which, Georgia's economic growth rate in the medium term will be the highest not only in the region, but also in Europe.
Special attention was paid to the energy sector of Georgia. It was noted that this field is especially attractive for investors. It was said that the Georgian government is considering making more emphasis on the development of the so-called renewable energy and in this regard, on finding potential investors. For their part, the representatives of the Japanese side expressed their interest in other energy projects.
At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to continue cooperation with the Government of Georgia and the Agency "Enterprise Georgia" to identify potential investment projects.
