In the nomination, the Foreign Friend of Georgia awards was given to Laszlo Borhi, who founded the Department of Kartvelology at the University of Budapest. She has made a great contribution to strengthening cultural, educational and literary ties between the two countries, Georgia and Hungary. Through the direct efforts of Laszlo Borhi, a Georgian language course and a Georgian library named after the Hungarian Kartvelologist Marton Ishtvanovich were opened at the university. The award was received by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Hungary to Georgia, Anna Mária Sikó.
The Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development spoke about the role and importance of the Georgian Diaspora in establishing ties in various fields abroad. At the same time, as Natia Turnava noted, “the Georgian government is really doing a lot to mobilize this resource, which we have in the form of our diaspora around the world, and to strengthen ties.”
"Diaspora Award 2021" was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia.The aim of the event is to recognize and appreciate the merits of our compatriots living abroad, who are successful in various fields - those who have made a significant contribution to the creation of Georgia's international image.
