Forum Connect is one of the most representative events in the European region, where the main trends in the development of the aviation sector are discussed. The Georgian delegation, represented by the Union of Georgian Airports, has planned presentations and bilateral meetings, during which they will discuss the innovations of our country's aviation market, existing and planned aviation infrastructure projects, including the Kutaisi International Airport, which can smoothly handle 1,200 passengers per hour. This will increase the capacity of the Kutaisi International Airport four times. We are expecting a number of new airlines to enter the Georgian aviation market," - Kvrivishvili said.
According to her, negotiations with the airlines are planned within the framework of Connect 2022, in order to increase the number of new direct flights to Georgia in the future.
The Union of Georgian Airports has been participating in international aviation forums since 2013. Within the framework of the forums, a number of meetings are held with strategically important airlines for the Georgian market, in order to make them get interested in starting the flights, increase the frequencies to the existing destinations or add new destinations of Georgia. As a result, well-known airlines such as Air France, Eurowings, Tarom, Ryanair, Sky Up and Wizz Air started flying to Georgia, adding new destinations.
