
Chief of the Georgian Defence Forces, General-Major Giorgi Matiashvili, is on an official visit to Bratislava, Slovakia, where he is being hosted by Daniel Zmeko, Chief of the General Staff of the Slovak Armed Forces.
According to Georgia’s Ministry of Defence, the visit began with an official welcoming ceremony featuring an honour guard. The two military leaders discussed bilateral defence cooperation, placing particular emphasis on joint participation in international training exercises and the importance of experience-sharing between the two nations’ armed forces.
General Matiashvili expressed appreciation for Slovakia’s active involvement in the NATO-Georgia Substantial Package (SNGP) and thanked General Zmeko for his continued support.
As part of the visit, the Georgian delegation also held meetings with Slovakia’s Vice Prime Minister and Defence Minister. Additionally, they toured a military-industrial facility specializing in the production of artillery systems and weaponry, reflecting Georgia’s interest in defence industry collaboration.
