
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth Affairs of Georgia respects the work and merits of Lomer Akhvlediani in the development of Georgian cinema and extends its condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of the deceased.
Lomer Akhvlediani graduated from the Cinematography Faculty of the Institute of Cinematography of Moscow in 1975. Since 1957 he has worked as a cameraman for a film studio and as a staging operator for a film studio "Georgian Film".
Lomer Akhvlediani has made films: "Pitcher", "A Necklace for My Beloved", "Turmoil in Salkhineti", "Sun of Autumn", "My Native Land!", "The Wishing Tree", "Samanishvili's Stepmother", "Don Quixote", "Besame", "Express-Information" and others.
The People's Artist of Georgia was awarded the Special Prize of the Cairo International Film Festival in 1978, and in 1986 he became a laureate of the Shota Rustaveli State Prize.
