The government of Georgia sells an AS-332 L1e helicopter and buys 3 rescue helicopters in return.
The value of the simplified purchase, which will be signed with Airbus Helicopters, is EUR 26,500,000.
According to the terms, Airbus Helicopters S.A.S agrees to purchase an AS-332 L1e helicopter including its equipment for 5.5 million euros. According to the Border Police, Airbus has agreed to provide Georgia with H 145 helicopters (which can be used for both police and rescue missions) and various related spare parts at a discounted price. In addition, AIRBUS provides free of charge trainings for the relevant employees of the Main Division of Special Purpose Aviation of the Border Police.
Delivery of new helicopters with appropriate equipment will take place in stages, namely: the first helicopter will be received within 17 months, the second - within 19 months, and the third - within 20 months.
The documentation also mentions that the AS-332 L1e type helicopter owned by Georgia (which is planned to be privatized) is intended only for the transport of high-ranking persons; the configuration of the mentioned helicopter does not allow it to be used for police and rescue missions.
To be reminded, the so-called Super Puma helicopter was purchased by the previous government.
On August 29, 2022, the plan to sell Super Puma was announced once again. Then the Prime Minister said that that helicopter was equipped with luxury items, that's why the decision was made to sell it.
