Irakli Akhvlediani played in the Guimarães Open and the Maia International Tournament in 2021, where he took ninth and second places, and participated in the Famalicão International Tournament in 2022, where he finished in eighth place.

In total 911 players participated in the 2021/2022 Portugal Chess Tour tournaments, where Irakli Akhvlediani triumphed with 220 points, having a 20-point lead over the runner-up Portuguese FIDE master José Francisco Veiga.
