The Association of Financiers of Local Self-Government Units of Georgia was named as a member of the founding council of the International Association of Public Finance.
The organization joined the council alongside counterparts from the United States, Canada, India, Sweden, South Africa, Brazil and Israel.
The ruling Georgian Dream party press office said the announcement was made at the 118th Annual Conference of the Government Finance Officers Association, held in Florida, the US, with mayors and deputy mayors of 10 municipalities from Georgia attending the event.
The press office said meetings were held at the event on the improvement of public finance management, including development of programme budgeting and improvement of internal control of public finances.
Discussions at the Conference also covers programmatic budgeting, sharing of best practices, review of new developments and findings on effectiveness of budgeting.
The Conference involves economists and financiers and is ending on Wednesday, with the Georgian representation supported by the Georgian Association of Local Self-Governing Unit Financiers and the municipalities, which have partially covered related expenses.
