Nikoloz Samkharadze, Chair of the Georgian Parliament’s Foreign Relations Committee, met with Slovakian Member of the European Parliament, Branislav Ondrus, during the latter's official visit to Georgia.
Also present at the meeting were Vakhtang Turnava, First Deputy Chair of the Committee, and Michal Stuška, Deputy Chair of the European Affairs Committee of the Slovak Parliament.
The discussion focused on Georgia's domestic political landscape, its ongoing EU integration efforts, and the broader dynamics of Georgia-EU relations. Special attention was given to recent resolutions passed by the European Parliament, which Georgian representatives argued did not accurately reflect the country’s current situation.
Branislav Ondrus underscored the importance of a rational and constructive dialogue between the European Parliament, the European Commission, and the Georgian government.
The conversation also covered pressing regional security issues, including the humanitarian and political conditions in Georgia’s Russian-occupied regions of Abkhazia and Tskhinvali, as well as the potential implications of the ongoing war in Ukraine for Georgia and the South Caucasus.
