"Dear passengers, we would like to inform you that Georgian Airways will launch a direct flight from Tbilisi to Moscow and from Moscow to Tbilisi on January 28!", - the company's Facebook post reads.
As Tamaz Gaiashvili, the founder of Georgian Airways said, the flight will be carried out this year in connection with the New Year holidays.
"In connection with the New Year and Christmas holidays, the company received permission to perform 2 charter flights. One of them was already performed on January 8, and the next charter flight will be implemented on January 28,” - Tamaz Gaiashvili said.
To be informed, the flight from Tbilisi to Moscow will be performed at 10:00 am. The cost of a single ticket is 719 GEL.
Note: Direct air traffic between Russia and Georgia has been suspended since July 8, 2019. The Russian government made the decision to impose tough economic sanctions on Georgia after the Russian Duma deputy Sergei Gavrilov and his delegation had to leave Georgia earlier than planned. Talks on resumption of flights began as early as last year, though then the Russian Foreign Ministry issued a statement demanding the resumption of flights in exchange for certain conditions. One of the conditions was to stop the spread of anti-Russian manifestations.
