As Tamaz Gaiashvili, the founder of Georgian Airways, told Mtavari Arkhi Channel, the reason is the "media agitation" and the procedures violated by their company.
"The agitation erupted in such a way that it caused serious problems. Due to the activity of journalists, the charter flight was canceled. We were no longer allowed to perform it, since the special procedures were not followed,” – Gaiashvili said.
Today, at exactly 10:00 am, after a 3-year pause, the first flight to Moscow from Tbilisi was to be performed. All tickets were already sold on board, but Moscow did not allow the plane to take off.
To be reminded, under the decision of the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, Russia has suspended flights to Georgia since July 8, 2019. The situation became tense in the parliament’s plenary chamber after a bloody June 20 night, when Russian MP from the Communist Party Sergei Gavrilov, who is also the President of the General Assembly of IAO, addressed the delegates in Russian from the Georgian Parliament Speaker’s seat.
