Georgian Airlines continues to expand its cargo fleet. The airline plans to convert 3 units of its own Boeing 737-800BCF into cargo planes with the aviation equipment manufacturer Boeing.
As Georgian Airlines Group President Tamaz Gaiashvili told Cargo Facts, the company has already purchased the first 737-800, which will be delivered next year, and the remaining two aircraft will be delivered in 2024.
Gaiashvili also noted that the company is looking for two more new aircraft.
According to the airline, it currently leases two units of 737-800. Tamaz Gaiashvili also told Cargo Facts that the shipping company will continue to add cargo ships through both leasing and conversion of its own aircraft. In addition, he said, Georgian Airlines plans to acquire wide-body aircraft, including the 767F and 777F, with the aim of having ten freighters by 2025.
Georgian Airlines is not the only Georgia-based airline operating 737NG freighters. New startup Camex Airlines recently leased its first 737-800BCF from BBAM, while MyWay Airlines operates one 737-700BDSF.
