David Songulashvili, the Minister of Agriculture and Environmental Protection of Georgia, met with Ali Kaan Orbai, the Turkish Ambassador to Georgia to explore opportunities for enhancing trade and economic cooperation between the two nations.
Minister Songulashvili underscored the significant role of agriculture in Georgia's economic development and expressed interest in leveraging Turkey's expertise in the sector. He emphasized that the "friendly and partnership relations" between the countries serve as a strong foundation for effective collaboration. The Minister also highlighted the importance of market diversification for Georgia and discussed potential areas for cooperation, including fisheries, livestock, irrigation, forestry, waste management, and agricultural mechanization.
Ambassador Orbai acknowledged the "historical friendship and partnership" between Georgia and Turkey, describing it as a critical foundation for expanding cooperation across various domains.
The discussion also addressed the importance of increasing Georgian exports to Turkey and fostering closer collaboration between Georgian wine producers and Turkey’s HoReCa sector (hotels, restaurants, and cafés).
