“The Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Otar Shamugia, met with the Minister of Municipalities of Qatar, Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie, in Doha, the capital of the State of Qatar,” - the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia reports.
At the meeting held in the framework of the international agricultural exhibition "Agriteq 2023" in the city of Doha, the parties discussed the issues of deepening trade and economic relations between the countries and investment potential. As mentioned, the Gulf countries, including the state of Qatar, are an important trade partner for Georgia, and the deepening of trade and economic relations has great potential.
The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Otar Shamugia, spoke in detail about the state assistance programs for farmers. It was emphasized that important steps had been taken to promote the production of quality agro-food products in Georgia, “which leads to an increase in both the scale of production and the interest in Georgian products in international markets. Otar Shamugia informed the Minister of Municipalities of Qatar about the investment project "Imereti Agrozone".”
As the Minister noted, it is important for Georgia to establish a competitive Georgian agricultural product in the market of the Gulf countries, among which are Georgian honey, nuts, dry fruits, blueberries and lamb.
The Minister of Municipalities of the State of Qatar, Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie, thanked Otar Shamugia for his visit to the State of Qatar and his support for the presentation of the Georgian stand at the international agricultural exhibition. He emphasized that the State of Qatar is interested in deepening trade relations with Georgia and noted that the awareness of quality Georgian agro-food products had increased significantly in recent years and that there was indeed a potential for deepening trade relations between the two countries.
