
“The Minister of Agriculture and Environmental Protection of Georgia, Otar Shamugia, considered the international food safety at the Global Forum for Food and Agriculture ministerial in Berlin between January 18-21,” - the Ministry reported.
At the meeting, the parties focused on the importance of the support of international partners in the ongoing process of Georgia's integration with the European Union. Otar Shamugia thanked the Minister of Agriculture of Lithuania for his active cooperation and noted that the Georgian authorities are working on the implementation of the recommendations received from the European Union, so that the country can get the candidate status as soon as possible.
Bringing together up to 90 agriculture Ministers and hundreds of representatives from international organisations, the event highlighted causes of the global food security crisis.
The Minister of Agriculture of Lithuania openly expressed his support for Georgia on the path of European integration.
At the meeting, the Ministers considered the issues of deepening cooperation in the direction of deepening trade relations between the two countries.
The Georgian official said provision of quality seed material, appropriate agricultural equipment, modern technology and constant access to modern knowledge and scientific achievements for farmers and entrepreneurs could resolve the challenges.
While in Berlin, the Georgian official also visited the opening of International Green Week, a major international exhibition of agriculture and horticulture hosted in the capital between January 20-29.
