At the UN Climate Change Conference (COP 29) in Baku, Georgia’s Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Otar Shamugia, met with Xiaohong Yang, Deputy Director General of the Asian Development Bank. 

They discussed key projects, including the development of a drainage system in Western Georgia, aimed at increasing agricultural land and improving farmers' economic conditions. 

Yang emphasized the importance of enhancing Georgia's agriculture sector for sustainable development and climate resilience. They also highlighted the Climate-Smart Irrigation Sector Development Program (2023-2028), which will modernize irrigation systems in Kvemo Samgori, improving water usage for farmers.
