
Georgian Railways Director General Lasha Abashidze met with the heads of Turkey’s and Azerbaijan’s railway administrations during the 7th International Business Forum on Transport and Logistics in Kazakhstan.
At the meeting, the three sides signed a cooperation agreement focused on freight transport along the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway. The document outlines steps to improve the railway’s efficiency and competitiveness, including:
Streamlining freight transport procedures
Defining responsibilities and coordination mechanisms between the countries
Setting tariff conditions
Sharing information through electronic platforms
The railway leaders also agreed to prioritize faster delivery times, recognizing their importance to cargo owners, and pledged closer cooperation to improve performance on the route.
