The Georgian national football team will wrap up its June training camp with a friendly match against Cape Verde on June 8 at the Ramaz Shengelia Stadium in Kutaisi. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m., with live coverage provided by GPB’s First Channel.
A day ahead of the match, 23 Georgian players participated in a pre-match training session under the guidance of head coach Willy Sagnol. Notably, Sagnol has opted to rest several key players, using this match as an opportunity to test a refreshed lineup.
Cape Verde comes into the friendly in strong form, currently sitting atop its group in African World Cup qualifiers with 13 points from six matches—one point clear of Cameroon. Only the group winner will secure direct qualification to the 2026 World Cup, while the runner-up enters a playoff round.
This will be Georgia’s third match hosted in Kutaisi. The team previously defeated Azerbaijan 1–0 in 2001 and played to a 2–2 draw with Belarus in 2017, both in friendly contests.
According to organizers, all tickets for the upcoming match have been sold, and a packed stadium is expected to cheer on the national team.
