
Within the first three months of 2022, Georgia sold 1,630 tons of herbs gaining $ 1.6 million in eight countries.
According to the official statistics, the export value of herbs decreased by 27% and the volume - by 25.1% - compared to the same period last year.
It should be noted that the largest quantities of herbs from the country are exported to Russia and Ukraine. The cost of exporting herbs to Russia in January-March fell by 38.3%, and in Ukraine - by 6.1%.
The export markets, value and volumes of herbs sold in this direction within 3 months are as follows:
1. Russia - $ 615.5 thousand, 749 tons;
2. Ukraine - $ 319.5 thousand, 398 tons;
3. Moldova - $ 252.9 thousand, 156 tons;
4. Romania - $ 158.3 thousand, 135 tons;
5. Armenia - $ 125 thousand, 109 tons;
6. Greece - $ 62 thousand, 27 tons;
7. Latvia - $ 44 thousand, 13 tons;
8. Poland - $ 41 thousand, 40 tons.
The TOP-10 list of the companies exporting herbs in January-March 2022 are as follows: MTM Group Ltd; Agro-Export LTD; NAMI Ltd; BEGI Ltd; FRUSTAR Ltd; Royal Village Ltd; ISOGREEN Ltd; Legend Ltd.; Nuts Food Senaki Ltd; "GEO GROUP" Ltd.
As for the last year’s exports, in 2021 Georgia earned $ 4 million from exporting herbs and exported a total of 3,985 tons of herbs to 9 countries.
These numbers are higher than the 2020 data and are almost analogous to the 2019 statistics (2020 - $ 3.2 million, 3,166 tons; 2019 - $ 3.9 million, 3,971 tons). Russia and Ukraine have also been the main export markets in recent years.
