Levan Zhorzholiani, Head of Georgia’s Government Administration, met with a U.S. Department of State delegation led by Senior Advisor Jonathan Askonas to discuss Georgia’s efforts to strengthen its transit and connectivity role. Zhorzholiani briefed the U.S. side on major government investments in railway, road, and port infrastructure.
He emphasized that Georgia is dissatisfied with the current level of relations with the U.S. and is ready to renew the strategic partnership “from a clean slate” with a clear roadmap. The sides also discussed Georgia’s position on the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP), which could positively impact regional security for cargo movement.
The conversation highlighted the Trump administration’s efforts to foster regional peace and Georgia’s constructive role in Armenia–Azerbaijan normalization. Deputy Foreign Minister Aleksandre Khvtisiashvili and U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Alan S. Purcell also attended the meeting.
