The number of transit trailers passing through Georgia is increasing to a record.
In September, 39,208 truck trailers covered the fee for the country's budget. Compared to September last year, 11,846 more trucks used the country's roads, and in total, GEL 13.7 million was paid to the budget in 1 month.
There are record figures in the incomes of 9 months as well. According to the data of the Georgian State Treasury, in January-September, the income received from road use exceeded GEL 84.8 million, which is an annual increase of 74% and is significantly higher than the data of 12 months of last year.
Revenue received from road use is as follows:
• 9 months of 2022 - GEL 84.8 million
• 8 months of 2021 - GEL 48.7 million
The increase in revenue from road use was caused by two factors - freight shipments increased in the corridor of Georgia, and the price of road use surged from 2022. If the fee for each trailer moving on the roads of Georgia totaled GEL 200 for road use until June 20, 2022, after June 20 it increased to GEL 350.
