
“In January-April 2023, foreign trade turnover of goods in Georgia (without undeclared trade) was $6,493.3 million, which is 21.9 percent more compared to the corresponding period of the previous year,” - the National Statistics Office of Georgia (GEOSTAT) reported.
Out of this, the export amounts to $1,962.2 mln. (increased by 23.6 percent), and imports amount to $4,531.0 million (increased by 21.2 percent). A trade deficit of Georgia in January-April 2023 was $2,568.8 million amounting to 39.6 percent of foreign trade turnover.
In January-April 2023, the share of Georgia's top trading partners by exports amounted to 80.6 percent. The top three exporters were: Armenia (280.8 million US dollars), Azerbaijan (261.9 million US dollars) and Russia (226.2 million US dollars).
In January-April 2023, the share of Georgia's top trading partners by imports amounted to 70.2 percent. The top three include: Turkey (786.4 million US dollars), Russia (622.3 million US dollars) and the USA (412.5 million US dollars).
In January-April 2023, the share of Georgia's top trading partners by the total foreign trade turnover amounted to 68.2 percent. The largest trade partners of the country are: Turkey (USD 925.3 million), Russia (USD 848.5 million) and Azerbaijan (USD 500.9 million).
The largest import commodity group in January-April 2023 was presented in the form of light vehicles, the import of which amounted to $727.9 million, 16.1 percent of all imports. Oil and oil products ranked 2nd with $318.0 million (7.0 percent of imports), while oil gases and other gaseous hydrocarbons ranked 3rd with $250.6 million (5.5 percent of imports).
