Georgia's international reserves are growing. According to the statistics released by the National Bank, as of May 2022, the volume of Georgia’s international reserves amounted to about 3.855 billion US dollars, while in April this figure was 3.826 billion US dollars.
As for international reserves by components, the largest share of reserve assets falls on foreign exchange reserves, which amounted to about $ 3.372 billion in May, which is $ 25.9 million more than in April. This is followed by the volume of the Special Drawing Rights (SDRs), which increased by $ 7.972 million to $ 473.154 million in May. As for other reserve assets, this figure decreased in May to $ 9.759 million.
To be reminded, the National Bank had the largest international reserve historically in December last year, namely $ 4.272 billion. The reason for all this is probably the foreign debt taken by the government, which the National Bank kept as a reserve.
