“In January 2022, at the initiative of the Government of Georgia, the installation of the third phase of the artificial snowing system on the two ski slopes of Didveli in Bakuriani was completed. As a result, 23 fixed and 3 rolling snow blowers, it will be possible to arrange a 2,500-meter-long ski track in total through artificial snowing system,” - Mariam Kvrivishvili, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, said.
"As part of the ongoing preparations for the 2023 World Cup, the artificial snowing system was a major infrastructure project for us. However, it is first and foremost important for the full functioning of the resort - to increase the length of the season and obviously, it is one of the main infrastructural tools for the successful conduct of the World Cup,"- the Deputy Minister added.
The second phase of the artificial snowing system was installed in 2020 in Didveli ski area. The 2021 European and World Cup stages in ski cross [a type of skiing competition] were held on this track, which was positively evaluated by the International Ski Federation. As for the first phase of the snowing system, it was implemented in 2014-2015.
