
”It is gratifying that the tourism industry continues to develop and recover with positive dynamics. In August we have achieved a proud result. Not only did we fully recover the same rate as 2019, but we improved it to about 30%. It is also gratifying that according to the January-August data, our country received 2.1 billion dollars from the tourism industry,” - the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Mariam Kvrivishvili.
According to the statistics, travel revenue in the month of August 2022 surpassed the figure of 2019 for the second time since the pandemic and set a record. The revenues totaled $522,945,221 in the month of August compared to the month of August 2021, while travel revenues have increased by $324,158,964 (+163.1%).
As for the January-August period, the income received from travel was $2,141,568,321, which is a recovery of 94.6% of the 2019 figure. Compared to January-August 2021, travel revenues increased by 204.3% in USD.
"The share of the countries such as the European Union and the Gulf States and Israel is important in the incomes received from tourism. We will continue all those activities that contribute to the growth of tourist flows and income from tourism in our country," - Mariam Kvrivishvili said.
