“The Contracting Parties signed the protocol on the establishment of the GUAM free trade zone for the agreement on the Rules of Determining the Country of Origin of Goods and the Convention on mutual assistance in consular matters among the member-states of the GUAM,” - the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia reports.
The decision was made at the 39th session of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Organization for Democracy and Economic Development - GUAM, within the framework of the high-level week of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Ilia Darchiashvili, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Moldova, Nicu Popescu, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, and the Secretary General of the GUAM, Altai Efendiev, took part in the session.
Ilia Darchiashvili informed the participants of the session about the current situation and security environment in the occupied regions of Georgia. The parties emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation in the direction of transport, connectivity and energy, which became even more of a priority in the light of the current events in Ukraine.
At the ministerial meeting, the parties emphasized the importance of coordinated interaction among the GUAM-member countries within the framework of international organizations. The formats of the existing cooperation with the partner countries and prospects for their expansion were mentioned," the Ministry said.
