Georgia marks Day of Victory over Fascism today

May 9 is the Day of Victory over Fascism. On May 8, 1945, after the declaration of capitulation by Germany, the World War II ended.
700,000 people left Georgia for this war, half of them never returned. War veterans will gather in the park of Veterans Recreation and Culture (the so-called Kikvidze Park) this year. Authorities will also visit the site and lay flowers at the bust of Meliton Kantaria.
The Day of Victory over Fascism is celebrated with various events across the country.
