According to the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Levan Davitashvili, more than 400 flights a week will be operated in the direction of Georgia during the tourist season.
According to Davitashvili, compared to 2019, tourist flows have been restored by 50%.
"We attracted different airlines and managed to more or less compensate for the loss of the existing tourist markets. Additional flights from the Gulf countries will be operated. We are now entering the active tourist season and in relation to 2019, we have managed to restore more than 50% of tourist flows.
More than 400 flights a week will be performed in different directions during the tourist season in Georgia. This is a peak, because we have not had so many [flights] before. We think we will be able to attract additional tourist flows," - the Minister said.
According to him, many companies are locating their services or regional service offices in Georgia, which will be an additional income for the country.
"Many professionals came to Georgia - these are mainly IT and other legal services companies. The Ministry of Finance had the initiative to work with such companies. Our working group is connected with the Enterprise Georgia Agency and works with the companies to properly instruct and comfort them in order to Georgia. With the entry of several thousand new professionals we will receive additional alternative income. We are thereby compensating for the potential currency losses and maintaining high economic growth and exchange rate stability," Levan Davitashvili declared.
