“For the first time in the history of Georgia and the region, Georgia is the only country that has become part of the annual calendar of the International Ski Federation, and it has taken pride of place next to such successful and developed ski resorts as are in France, Switzerland, America or Canada,” - Mariam Kvrivishvili, the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, said at the press conference held at Radisson Hotel, where media representatives were informed about the decision of the International Ski Federation (FIS) that Gudauri and Bakuriani would host the stages of the international level World Cup every year,” - Mariam Kvrivishvili said.
According to the Deputy Minister, historical skiing infrastructure was organized in Bakuriani during the past two years - two artificial reservoirs, three new cable cars, 11 ski tracks and a 34-kilometer artificial snowmaking system were built.
"We will have the opportunity to host the World Cup with dignity. The experience and professionalism of our team gives us the basis to predict that Georgia will be another successful country. Most importantly, we will be able to further increase the awareness of our country's mountain skiing destination, including our resorts - Gudauri and Bakuriani, in the world tourist market," - Mariam Kvrivishvili said.
