
During the working visit to the United States, the Deputy Prime Minister/Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Levan Davitashvili briefed the American business representatives on the current economic trends in Georgia and talked about specific investment projects.
According to the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Levan Davitashvili met with the members of the US-Georgia Business Council and discussed the priority areas of bilateral economic relations with them.
At the Council meeting, which was held in a round table format, the Economy Minister briefed the American business representatives on the economic indicators of Georgia in detail, as well as discussed the current processes in the region, their impact and challenges. The interest expressed by the American business towards the Georgian economy covers a number of fields - including energy, transport and logistics, communications, the financial sector and others. Special emphasis was placed on the development of information technology and the utilization of renewable energy sources.
According to Levan Davitashvili, the meeting focused on the new opportunities that might arise in the region. He said “Georgia's role in the region is special and Georgia is an ally that connects Europe with Central Asia and the Middle East.”
"Georgia is the most stable country in the region, with the most predictable economic environment for the United States, which is a top priority," - Levan Davitashvili said.
According to him, the strategic cooperation between Georgia and the United States was also emphasized.
"Our countries have made great progress in the field of security and politics, but we also have a great potential for economic cooperation, which must also be used. We are talking about the effective use of the US public financial instruments such as the International Development Finance Corporation (DFC), the US Export-Import Bank, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and others," - Levan Davitashvili stated.
It was noted at the meeting that Georgia's economic relations with the United States are a priority and that American investments in Georgia will be significantly supported.
The Georgian Ambassador to the United States Davit Zalkaliani and the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Genadi Arveladze participated in the US-Georgia Business Council meeting.
