According to the chairman of the Chairman of the Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission (GNERC), Davit Narmania, an increase in the prices of electricity and natural gas is not expected.
He said natural gas remains the main source of meeting the final demand for energy for Georgia. According to the energy balance of Georgia, the share of natural gas in total energy consumption exceeds 38%.
Georgia’s main supplier of gas is the Republic of Azerbaijan. On average, Georgia receives 91% of the natural gas needed to meet the country's total demand.
As Davit Narmania stated, Georgia maintains the stability of the natural gas market and prices against the background of long-term supply contracts.
“The system is technically ready and the winter demand will be met as it was in previous winter periods, usually through various gas contracts,” - Davit Narmania added.
