
The World Economic Forum (WEF) has published its report entitled the Travel & Tourism Development Index 2021. The ranking assesses the pace of tourism development in different countries.
Georgia has been included in the list of the top 50 countries of the world for the first time in the ranking.
The report presents the rating of 117 countries, in which Georgia ranks 44th. In the 2019 ranking (Travel & Tourism Competitiveness index), Georgia occupied the 68th place.
Consequently, Georgia is the best in its neighborhood - ahead of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Turkey, as well as a number of the EU member states, including Croatia.
Georgia is advanced compared to the centers of attraction of Israel, Brazil, Egypt and other global tourism.
The Travel & Tourism Development Index is conducted by the World Economic Forum every 2 years.
In 2019, 140 countries, while in 2021, 117 countries participated in the survey.
