In January-September 2022, 10,382.49 shelled hazelnuts were exported, which shows a 6% increase compared to the same figures last year. According to the data published by the National Statistics Office of Georgia (GEOSTAT), in 9 months, Georgia exported fresh or dry shelled hazelnuts worth of $52,415.60 thousand to foreign markets.
In 9 months of 2022, Georgia sold the largest amount of shelled hazelnuts to Germany -about 26% of the total export, while 20% of the product was exported to Italy. It is significant that 72% of the export of Georgian hazelnuts was distributed to EU the countries.
According to statistics, in January-September, Georgia sold shelled hazelnuts to 35 countries. Georgia's top-five trading partners by exports of shelled hazelnuts are as follows:
- Germany - 2,659.64 tons ($13,562.44 thousand);
- Italy - 2,095.50 tons ($10,226.52 thousand);
- Armenia - 1,087.44 tons ($4,588.11 thousand);
- Spain - 864.00 tons ($4,627.91 thousand);
- Lithuania - 441.30 tons ($2,371.66 thousand).
