“Georgia has proven that it is an active supporter and valuable participant of the Southern Gas Corridor - the country supports strategic partnership and mutually beneficial cooperation between all interested parties,” - said the First Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Romeo Mikautadze during his speech at the eighth Ministerial Meeting of the Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council, which was held in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan.
According to the head of the Georgian delegation, the Southern Gas Corridor acquires even greater importance in this difficult time, when Europe needs to diversify its energy resources. This, in turn, emphasizes the important role of Georgia as a reliable partner, which will later lay the foundation for even more international projects.
"It is important that my country has another opportunity to demonstrate its important role as a reliable partner in this context. Georgia, as a country at the crossroads of the western and eastern parts of the world, stands at the center of the intertwined interests of consumers and supplier countries. The project once again emphasizes the role of Georgia as a reliable partner.
Before the implementation of TANAP, Georgia was the only gas transit country of regional importance. Now we have emerged as an international player. The flow of natural gas transported through our country will play an important role in the diversification of international, mainly EU, energy markets and strengthening of energy security," - Romeo Mikautadze said.
