
The Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed deep sorrow and solidarity with Austria in the wake of a devastating school shooting in Graz, which claimed nine lives and left twelve others injured.
“We are deeply shocked by the tragic school shooting in Graz, Austria. Our thoughts are with the victims, their families, and the Austrian people during this difficult time. We stand in solidarity with Austria and wish swift and full recovery to all those injured,” the Ministry stated in a message posted on the social network X.
Austria has declared three days of national mourning in response to the attack, which occurred in the country’s second-largest city.
According to official reports, the assailant was a 21-year-old former student of the school who had not completed his studies. After carrying out the attack, he took his own life in the school’s restroom.
The incident has shocked the nation and prompted expressions of condolence and support from across the international community, including Georgia.
