Georgia exported 80.94 tons of snails to Europe

In December 2021, Georgia was included in the list of the countries from where the export of snails to the EU market is allowed, in accordance with the regulation of the European Commission.
According to the data published by the National Statistics Office of Georgia (GEOSTAT), 79.72 tons of snails worth $482,480 were exported from Georgia. Of these, 74.86 tons were sent to France, and 4.86 tons - to Italy.
As for 2023, 1.22 tons of snails worth $7,090 have been exported to Italy so far.
Currently, there are several dozen snail farms in Georgia. According to the representatives of the sector, the country has a great potential to develop and significantly increase exports in this regard.
