Speaker of Parliament Shalva Papuashvili said Georgia is in a period of “strategic patience” as it recalibrates its relationship with the United States.
In an interview with Rustavi 2, Papuashvili emphasized that all international partnerships are evaluated through the lens of Georgia’s national interests, particularly the goals of national unification and improving citizens’ well-being. He noted that achieving these objectives requires cooperation with global partners.
Speaking about relations with the U.S., Papuashvili highlighted Georgia’s long-standing strategic partnership, stressing that the country has demonstrated its commitment “not just on paper but in action,” including participation in military operations at times when “half of Europe withdrew.”
“Given our significant contribution, we naturally expect an appropriate response. We are exercising strategic patience,” he stated.
