In 11 months of 2022, the revenue from honey export amounted up to $1 million. Specifically, according to the official data of the National Statistics Office of Georgia, 213 tons of honey worth $972 thousand were exported from the country during January-November.
During this period, the value of exports exceeded the indicator of the same period last year by 81%, and the product volume - by 41.9%. The figures of honey sales outside the borders of the country for the 11 months of 2022 are a record for the last ten years.
Honey was exported mainly to three countries, although small volumes were exported to other countries as well. During this period, the main part of honey - 72.1% - was exported from the EU countries.
According to the total amount of income, the ranking of exporting countries is as follows:
1. France - $436 thousand, 76 tons;
2. Bulgaria - $255 thousand, 90 tons;
3. Norway - $103 thousand, 21 tons;
4. Israel - $61 thousand, 10 tons;
5. The United Arab Emirates - $40 thousand, 5 tons;
6. Saudi Arabia - $20 thousand, 4 tons;
7. Japan - $16 thousand, 1 ton;
8. Canada - $10 thousand, 1 ton;
9. Armenia - $10 thousand, 0.99 tons;
10. Burkina Faso - $5 thousand, 0.22 tons.
