Export of nitrogen fertilizers decreased. In 2023, Georgia earned $158 million 387 thousand from the sale of locally produced goods, which is 43.7% lower than the record export value of 2022. Despite the decreased rate, nitrogenous fertilizers rank 6th in the ten largest export goods with a share of 2.6%.
According to the data published by the National Statistics Office of Georgia (GEOSTAT), despite the almost halving of the export value of minimal, chemical or nitrogen fertilizers last year, the volume of this particular commodity sold outside the country's borders did not decrease much. In total, Georgia sold 450,278 tons of fertilizers, which is 12,000 tons less than the 2022 export. Therefore, compared to 2022, nitrogen fertilizers have become cheaper in the international market.
As in 2022, Georgia's main trading partner by nitrogen fertilizer exports was still Peru, although the rate of export of goods in this direction has decreased significantly. The ranking of the 10 largest exporting countries is as follows:
Peru - $61.9 million, 165,050 tons;
Romania - $21.6 million, 59,092 tons;
Morocco - $17.6 million, 68,798 tons;
Tanzania - $10.4 million, 27,600 tons;
Panama - $7 million, 21,450 tons;
India - $6.9 million, 12,460 tons;
Ghana - $6.6 million, 18,500 tons;
Spain - $6.3 million, 21,942 tons;
Lithuania - $5 million, 11,747 tons;
