Team Georgia emerged victorious in the mixed team event at the European Judo Championships in Montenegro, edging out Italy 4-3 in a dramatic final that came down to a golden score decider.
Key wins by Mariam Chanturaia, Guram Tushishvili, and Eter Liparteliani helped secure the narrow victory, while Luka Maisuradze, Sofia Somkhishvili, and Mikheil Bakhbakhishvili were defeated in their bouts.
Georgia’s road to the final was marked by dominant performances, with clean victories over Azerbaijan (4-0), Germany (4-0), and a strong 4-1 win against Austria.
The triumph adds to an already successful championship for Georgia, following an impressive individual showing. Giorgi Sardalashvili and Ilia Sulamanidze were crowned European champions, while Eter Liparteliani and Tato Grigalashvili earned silver medals.
