
Trade between Georgia and Bulgaria reached a record level in the last ten years in 2022.
According to official statistics, the trade turnover between the two countries last year amounted to $626 million. Compared to 2021, this number has increased by 44.8%.
Exports play a major role in trade between the countries. Last year, Georgia earned $423 million from the sale of goods to Bulgaria. This indicator increased by 66.8% in 2022 and is at a record level.
Last year, the largest amount of copper ores and concentrates was sent from Georgia to Bulgaria, which made up 94.7% of the total export.
It should be noted that according to the data of January-February 2023, the trade turnover with Bulgaria decreased by 61.1% and amounted to $48.4 million. Out of this, export was $34 million (decreased by 58.6%), while import was $14 million (decreased by 66.2%).
As for imports, last year Georgia purchased 13.6% more goods from Bulgaria. Among the commodity groups imported from Bulgaria, oil and oil products ranked 1st.
