According to the official statistics, the value of 36,935 tons of salt imported to Georgia in January-June amounted to 2.9 million dollars. Compared to the period of 6 months of 2021, the import earnings increased by 24.2%, while its volume - by 27.5%.

Statistics show that Georgia buys the largest amount of salt from Turkey. The TOP-5 importing countries are as follows:

1. Turkey - 1.5 million dollars, 24 214 tons;

2. Azerbaijan - 516 thousand dollars, 3 835 tons;

3. Iran - 457 thousand dollars, 7 009 tons;

4. Ukraine - 182 thousand dollars, 1 256 tons;

5. Greece - 82 thousand dollars, 154 tons;

In addition to these countries, Georgia carries out imports of salt from the Netherlands, Pakistan, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Poland, Croatia, Russia, the United Kingdom, Italy and in small quantities - from other countries.

It should be noted that salt is not actually exported from Georgia.
