
According to official statistics, the value of imported goods increased by 22.4% compared to 2020, and by 19.3% - compared to 2019. The volume of imported goods is 1.6% higher than in 2020, although the volume of coffee imported in 2019 is 1.3% lower. (in 2020 - 15.6 million dollars, 6 337 tons; in 2019 - 17.3 million dollars, 6 523 tons).
Last year, Georgia bought the largest amount of coffee in Indonesia. The list of TOP-5 importing countries is as follows:
- Indonesia - 7 million dollars, 3,447 tons;
- Russia - 2.3 million dollars, 583 tons;
- Italy - 2.1 million dollars, 214 tons;
- Germany - 2.1 million dollars, 385 tons;
- Vietnam - 2 million dollars, 995 tons.
In addition, the cost of each variety of coffee imported from Armenia, Turkey, France, the Netherlands, Austria, Bulgaria and Uganda, is from 100 thousand to 1 million dollars. The country has also purchased small volumes of coffee in Brazil, Spain, Cameroon, Switzerland, Greece, China, India, the United Kingdom, Ukraine and other countries.
Last year, Georgia also exported a small amount of local coffee, during which the value of 113 tons of roasted or unroasted goods exported amounted to 405 thousand dollars. This exceeds the exports of previous years (in 2020 - 172.7 thousand dollars, 48 tons; in 2019 - 117.7 thousand dollars, 13 tons).
According to Geostat, the list of exporting countries starts with Russia, where 29 tons of coffee worth 191 thousand dollars were exported, followed by Armenia (161 thousand dollars, 76 tons), Greece (20 thousand dollars, 3 tons); Azerbaijan (15.9 thousand dollars, 2 tons), the USA (7 thousand dollars) and other countries.
