
After Turkey, Russia and China, Georgia's top trading partner, Azerbaijan ranks 4th in the TOP-10 list. In the first ten months of this year, the trade turnover between the countries amounted to more than $1 billion; it has increased by 18.1% compared to the same period last year. It should be noted that at the end of 2013, Georgia's trade turnover with its neighboring Azerbaijan exceeded $ 1 billion.
The trade balance with Azerbaijan is positive and the export rate is slightly higher than the import rate. According to official statistics, this year Georgia received $ 541.7 million of income from the export of goods in this direction. This is 22.2% more than the export volume recorded in the same period last year. With this export rate, Azerbaijan ranks 2nd in the list of the TOP-exporting countries. However, the first place among the largest export goods is occupied by light vehicles, which is half of the total export and represents re-export.
As for imports, this year Georgia has spent 515.7 million US Dollars to purchase various types of goods. The increase in the trade turnover compared to the previous year is 14.2%. Thus, Azerbaijan ranked 5th among the importing countries. During this period, Azerbaijan spent the largest amount of money on the purchase of petroleum gases and petroleum products.
