Javad Hedayati, Director General of RMTO's International Transit and Transport Department, stated that the launch of the new corridor was aimed at deepening economic and transport links. He said that after the completion of the test regime for the shipment of goods, a tripartite meeting will be held, where the parties will agree on the details of ease of transportation.
Javad Hedayati believes through this corridor, the countries of Southeast Asia and India will be connected to Eastern and Western Europe, which will expand the land transport traffic between the countries of the region.
"It is planned to transport 20 million tons of cargo through this corridor, and within a period of 20 years this figure will increase to 50 million tons per year," Javad Hedayati said.
According to the Consul General of Azerbaijan in Tabriz, Alyanag Husseinov, the new corridor will contribute to the development of trade and economic relations among Iran, Azerbaijan and Georgia and will significantly strengthen the economic potential of these countries.
Through the Persian Gulf-Black Sea route, 144 trucks from the three countries left the city of Tabriz for the northwestern Iranian province in test mode.
