
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia has announced the appointment of new ambassadors to the Slovak Republic, Ireland, and Malaysia, reflecting the country’s ongoing commitment to strengthening international relations.
Konstantine Kvachakidze has been named Ambassador to the Slovak Republic. A seasoned diplomat with over two decades of experience, Kvachakidze has previously served as Georgia’s Ambassador to Cyprus and as Deputy Permanent Representative to the Council of Europe.
Sofio Katsarava will take up the post of Ambassador to Ireland. From 2020 to 2024, she served as Ambassador to the United Kingdom and as Georgia’s Permanent Representative to the International Maritime Organization. A former Member of Parliament and Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee (2016–2019), Katsarava is also a recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Award. She holds the diplomatic rank of Envoy Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary.
Irakli Asashvili has been appointed as Ambassador to Malaysia. Since June 2024, he has served as Chargé d’Affaires ad interim at the Embassy in Kuala Lumpur. His prior diplomatic experience includes roles as Ambassador to Indonesia and Consul General in Trabzon and Istanbul, Turkey. Asashvili holds the rank of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary.
