The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia has officially announced two new diplomatic appointments: Levan Tsurtsumia as Ambassador to Portugal and Gia Macharadze as Ambassador to Ethiopia.
Levan Tsurtsumia, a seasoned diplomat with the Foreign Ministry since 1998, brings extensive experience to his new role. His career also includes key roles such as Deputy Director of the International Legal Department and work with the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization.
Gia Macharadze, who joined the Ministry in 1996, has likewise held a number of significant positions. Between 2021 and 2022, he served as Deputy Director of the Human Resource Management Department. Since 2022, he has represented Georgia as Envoy Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary at the Embassy in Ethiopia—a role in which he will now serve at the ambassadorial level.
