
Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Genadi Arveladze met with Nikola Stojanović, State Secretary of the Ministry of Domestic and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Serbia, on the sidelines of the Tbilisi Silk Road Forum.
During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for enhancing bilateral economic cooperation across various sectors, including trade, tourism, civil aviation, transport, energy, and information technology. Both sides underlined the significant potential for expanding partnership between Georgia and Serbia.
The discussion also covered the ongoing consultations on a free trade agreement, with both sides noting plans to issue a joint statement announcing the start of formal negotiations in the near future.
Participants welcomed the launch of direct flights between Tbilisi and Belgrade, which began operating three times a week in June 2025. It was noted that the new air connection has already contributed to an increase in tourist flows between the two countries.
The Georgian side also praised Serbia’s decision to open an embassy in Tbilisi, highlighting that the establishment of a permanent diplomatic mission will further strengthen bilateral relations and foster closer cooperation.
