
Within the framework of the IMF and World Bank Annual Meetings in Washington, Natia Turnava, President of the National Bank of Georgia (NBG), and First Vice President Ekaterine Mikabadze met with Sanjay Malhotra, Governor of the Reserve Bank of India.
The discussion focused on strengthening economic cooperation between Georgia and India. Turnava presented Georgia’s current macroeconomic trends and financial stability outlook, as well as the NBG’s approach to monetary policy and financial supervision.
The central bank leaders agreed to formalize their collaboration through a Memorandum of Understanding. The MoU will cover cooperation in key areas including monetary policy, payment systems, financial sector supervision, and regulatory frameworks.
Prior to the bilateral meeting, Turnava and NBG Vice President Ekaterine Galdava also participated in a high-level dialogue hosted by the Reserve Bank of India on enhancing economic resilience through digital public infrastructure.
