
Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mariam Kvrivishvili, met with Rovshan Rustamov, Head of Azerbaijan Railways, during his official visit to Georgia to discuss the restoration of passenger railway services between the two countries.
The meeting follows Kvrivishvili’s recent trip to Azerbaijan, where the initiative was a key topic of discussion. Rustamov’s visit to Georgia focused on addressing the technical aspects necessary for resuming cross-border rail travel.
Both parties underscored the project’s potential to significantly strengthen Georgia-Azerbaijan economic ties, especially in the tourism sector.
“We are optimistic that the ongoing negotiations will soon yield tangible results,” Kvrivishvili said, expressing confidence in the progress made.
Also present at the meeting were Deputy Economy Minister Guram Guramishvili, Georgian Railway Director Lasha Abashidze, and Levan Kankava, Head of Marabda-Kartsakhi LTD.
